The Opal Community is designed for professional development and mentorship.
Our community is built on mutual respect, support, and collaboration. Our goal is to help one another and build each other up. To ensure everyone has a positive experience, we ask all Opal Community members to adhere to the following guidelines within the Opal Community Slack and any virtual or in-person events associated with the Opal Community:
- Respect Each Other: Treat all members with kindness, empathy, and respect. Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or any form of disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
- Be Inclusive: Embrace diversity and inclusivity. Avoid language or actions that may make others feel unwelcome or marginalized based on factors such as race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, or ability.
- Be Kind: Refrain from using offensive, derogatory, or inappropriate language. This includes avoiding profanity, slurs, or any content that could be considered offensive or triggering to others.
- Keep Discussions Civil: Engage in constructive conversations. Disagreements are natural, but express your opinions respectfully and avoid personal attacks or hostile behavior.
- Respect Privacy: Do not share personal information about other members without their consent. Respect the confidentiality of private conversations and sensitive topics.
- Stay On Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the purpose of the Slack group. Off-topic conversations should be taken to appropriate channels or platforms.
- No Spam or Self-Promotion: Avoid spamming the group with irrelevant content or excessive self-promotion. Share valuable resources and insights, but do so in moderation and within the context of the conversation.
- Seek Consent for DMs: Respect others' boundaries and seek consent before sending unsolicited direct messages (DMs). Use DMs for relevant and respectful communication only.
- Report Concerns: If you encounter behavior that violates this code of conduct, please report it to the group administrators or moderators promptly. We are committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming community for all members.
- Follow Slack's Terms of Service: Adhere to Slack's terms of service and community guidelines. Any violations may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the group.
By participating in the Opal Community, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. If you breach the Code, Opal will take the necessary action, which may include removal from the Community. Let's work together to foster a positive and inclusive community for everyone!
